Lasagna

About a month ago my husband's aunt had us over for dinner and she made this fabulous lasagna. It was so delicious that I just had to get the recipe. I decided to make it today for Sunday dinner for the first time and even though I made a few changes it still turned out great. It has such a great flavor to it and is also very filling! So move over Stouffers cause after you make this lasagna you just might be hooked!

Begin by dicing up the celery and onion. Grate the carrot.
Heat up about a tablespoon of oil in a large pan and saute the carrot, celery, and onion together.
It should look like this after you have cooked it for a while
Next add the browned hamburger, garlic, blended tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
Salt and pepper to taste. Then let it all sit and simmer together for about 1 hour. (We were on a time crunch so we only did it for about 45 minutes and it still tasted great)
Melt the butter and add the flour to it.
Whisk in milk until the mixture is pourable and not so thick. You will be adding this white sauce to the last third of your red sauce.
Layer your lasagna in a 9 x 13 pan that has been well sprayed. Start with sauce on the bottom and then layer your noodles, and cheese.

After you have finished two layers, add your white sauce to the red sauce and mix it all together.
Add your last layer of noodles, sauce, and then top it off with lots of cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Lasagna

1 grated carrot
2 diced celery sticks
1 onion diced

Add and simmer together for 1 hour:
1 lb. hamburger browned
1 clove of garlic
1 can blended tomatoes
2 cans tomato sauce
salt & pepper to taste

Oven ready lasagna noodles
mozzarella cheese
3 Tbsp. butter
3 Tbsp. flour
Milk

Heat 1 Tbsp. of oil in a large pan. Saute together carrot, celery, and onion in the pan. Add in your browned hamburger, garlic, tomato sauce, and blended tomatoes. Stir together and then salt and pepper to taste. Simmer together for about 1 hour. This recipe calls for oven ready lasagna noodles and so I soaked them in hot water for about 30 to soften them up. Melt butter and add flour to the butter. Pour in milk to the butter mixture and whisk it all together until it is pourable. You will be adding this white sauce to the last third of your red sauce. Spray a 9x13 pan and layer your lasagna as follows: sauce, noodles, cheese, noodles, sauce, cheese, and last 1/3 of sauce that white sauce has been added to. Top it all off with plenty of cheese. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
